To reduce pod shatter and seed loss before and during harvest to oilseed rape, other brassica seed crops and peas and beans.
Mesh dramatically reduces the losses from pod shatter before and during harvest. It does not slow down desiccation and has no adverse effect on maturity or quality of the seed produced. Mesh effectively reduces pre-harvest losses caused by ‘normal’ conditions. Thunderstorms, hailstorms and gales are not ‘normal’ but ‘severe’ weather conditions.
